Skagit Speech Open House

Learn about and support homeschool speech in the Skagit Valley! The first year of Skagit Speech Club is progressing very well and is preparing for their first tournament in December. They are inviting friends, family, and community members to join them for this special afternoon. Enjoy refreshments and watch the students perform their speeches. A judge orientation and opportunity to practice judge will be available for those who are interested. It is still not too late to get started for those interested in homeschool speech competition. They will provide information about how to enter their tournament described below.

Judging and Speech opportunities are available for speech events such as informational speeches, interpretive monologues, and limited preparation speeches. We believe that you will find the experience rewarding and fun.  Judges must be 18 years or older and review an outline of rules and judging tips. No prior experience is needed.

7:30 AM           Coffee, snacks, and brief orientation for judges and timers
8:00    Round 1A
9:30    Round 1B
11:00                 Free lunch provided for judges
11:30                 Review for judges newly arrived or as needed
12:00  Round 2A
1:30    Round 2B
3:00 PM            Worship and closing

Invite a friend or spouse, or children to join you. This will make it more fun for you and will help us with our need for volunteers.  

Speach league information is available at www.ncfca.org  (National Christian Forensics and Communications Association). This speech league is for Christian, homeschooled students 12 to 18 years old. Our purpose is to equip homeschooled students to communicate, represent, and defend the Christian faith.
